We also know now how did the name Montevideo. The Portuguese navigator Magellan was looking for a passage from the Atlantic the Pacific. The area of present-day Uruguay was the "Monte" (hill) "VI" (Roman 6:00) "DEO" (de oeste; east), so the 6th Hills of the East, when coming from the Atlantic. Mention should perhaps be that the 'Monte' whole is 146 m high (much higher and there are not very Uruguay).
The small country of only 3 million inhabitants is very dependent on its neighboring countries, Brazil and Argentina and is suffering so much with even if these countries fall into crises. This fact is unfortunately, at the beautiful, but to see just crumbling buildings and old neighborhoods.
